Thanks for stopping by! This is Patty Jones of October Farms Tack,
I have been making model tack since 1998. I started out with a Rio
Rondo western saddle kit and I was hooked! At first it was something
to keep me busy, and then it swallowed me up. I am always thinking
tack, and how to make pieces better and “wow, what can I do with his
piece of material”?
I always wondered why I was so interested in horses and tack, and I
found out just recently from my Dad. My Dad is Bill Gannon and he
is from Manchester England, as are all my relatives (I love them all
so much). One year my Aunt Hilda was doing the family tree and found
out that the Gannons were from Ireland and were saddle and bridle
makers. They moved to Manchester, England during the potato famine,
were they work for the British Calvary as purveyors of tack and
horses.
I am originally from Somerville MA, which is next to Cambridge MA
in the shadow of Harvard University. I moved to Fitzwilliam NH with
Dan, my husband, so we could have the little farm we always wanted.
I have a 21 year old Arab mare, Shaharazhade aka the beaver (who
I have had since she was 2 months old), three German Shepherds, a
Parakeet and 3 elderly chickens that should be getting social
security as they are truly that old.
We used to raise chickens, turkeys and pigs for meat untill I said
can’t do this any more!!! I’m now a happy vegetarian. Oh yah, I will
be 43 again in March. Thanks to Dan for putting up with me all
these years and Dani Morano for pushing me to be better.
Please feel free to email me at any time
